Pros and Friends

Pros and Friends – Incentives for Family Music

This project is unique in the German festival landscape: professional musicians instruct amateurs, providing incentives for music at home. Since 2006, Germany’s oldest on-going chamber music festival has been giving amateur musicians new motivation for their hobby.

Do you love playing together with your friends, but you need some professional coaching? Come to Hitzacker and learn from the pros!

Every amateur musician who enjoys playing with friends or family members can apply for the program. If accepted, you will enjoy a unique opportunity during the festival. The renowned musicians performing here will become your teachers and help you overcome the technical or musical obstacles you’re grappling with.

Requirements
The course is open to all interested amateur musicians who play with friends or family members on a regular basis. Professional musicians or students at conservatories or music universities are not accepted. There is no age limit. Individuals or ensembles can participate. More important than your level of expertise is your devotion to playing regularly.

Special Concert

This year, interested participants in the "Pros and Friends" project will be appearing on the last day of the festival with the Camerata Bern and Carolin Widmann. Bartók´s "Ten Easy Pieces" will give our festival family the chance to appreciate the hard work the "Pros and Friends" put in!

Times, Places and Fees
The course will be taking place from Monday, July 30th until Friday, August 3th in Hitzacker. Depending on the number of participants, instruction can be scheduled for one to four units (60 minutes each) for several days. The participants themselves choose how many hours, which days and at what time they want to play. They submit their own choice of music. Each 60-minute unit costs 40 Euros for individual instruction, 60 Euro up to and including quartets and 75 Euros for larger ensembles. Participants enjoy reduced fees for their concert tickets.

Instruction
Instruction will be offered, for example, for chamber music and stringed instruments (Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, Eckart Runge), winds (Ernesto Molinari, members of the Hindemith Quintett), piano (Henning Lucius), vocals (Olga Graser) and others.
