"A quartet to watch," is what the press has written about the Cosmos Quartet. Even Alfred Brendel has testified to the quartet’s “personal sound”. Currently, the award-winning Cosmos Quartet from Spain is in its third season as the resident ensemble at the "Palau de la Musica Catalana" in Barcelona. For its Hitzacker debut, it has chosen the second string quartet by the Spanish composer Manuel Rodríguez Valenzuela, a world premirere framed by Schumann's and Britten's second string quartets.

The German pianist and conductor Alexander Lonquich is among the most enthusiastic chamber musicians in the music world – not least of all in duo with our former artistic director Carolin Widmann. Here, the musician will join forces with the Kuss Quartet to explore one of the most interesting but, unfortunately, neglected works of the early 20th century. The Piano Quintet in E-major by Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957) dates from his innovative Viennese years and was printed in 1923.
