Antje Weithaas is undeniably one of the most exciting interpreters and instructors of violin music in our times. Together with our Artistic Director Oliver Wille she also directs the renowned Hannover International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition. Her performance of Mozart's violin sonatas in the context of works by Kurtág and Debussy promises to be a very special one. Dénes Várjon, born in Budapest in 1968 and influenced there by Kurtág and in masterclasses with Sir András Schiff, is her particularly sensitive chamber music partner. Várjon performs in a duo together with his wife, Izabella Simon (who is performing on Saturday in Hitzacker), and the two also organize and direct several chamber music festivals.
