Works by Hanns Eisler, Jean Kurt Forest, Carl-Heinz Pick, Fidelio F. Finke, Paul Dessau, Reiner Bredemeyer, Wolf Biermann et al in the context of new works by Steffen Schleiermacher and Georg Katzer

Composers with East German roots and two singing stars with a heart for the art of the Lied are off on an unusual repertoire journey. With a nod to the festival’s motto “…boundless…” and to celebrate 30 years of re-unification, they join young duet talents to explore the amazing universe of the songs of the GDR. Starting with the complex œuvre of the great Hanns Eisler, their path takes them via the songs of the Young Pioneers, class struggle and the working class or the cabarets right up to today’s art Lieder.
